Each time i play a game published by Playgendary Limited, I immediately know something fun and gruesome going to happen. While their games may look childish and completely innocent for our young players, it’s actually the opposite as flying organs and blood in all direction are all that is waiting for an older audience.
It is clear to me that they were inspired by Mortal combat for the violence part and by Worms for the artillery shooting style. I know all of that sounds confusing for now but it will make sense soon enough as I will break this down for you below.
In Ultimate Bowmasters, your goal is simple as the tutorial shows you. You starts on a 2D landscape map with slopes of different heights. This is where your selected character and the enemy will be placed random distance. All you have to do is to aim for the right angle and choose the amount of power to throw your weapon to your enemy.
Note that it is a turn base game where both will throw after each other each turn. Your goal is to inflict as much damage as possible to finish your opponent hp bar first. Once you successfully deplete the health bar, you will have another turn to finish your opponent in a mortal combat style for additional currency. Your opponent will also do the same to you if you lose.
Fatality plays an unique animation for each character that’s going to kill your opponent in some cool or unimpressive way. Hitting your opponent will hurt them and show the damage part of the body with blood and organs spilling out. Headshots deals critical damage, so be sure to take this to your advantage for a swift victory.
Characters are inspired by famous cartoon, game, anime, popular shows and film. To avoid any copyright issue, they cleverly change their name but you would immediately recognize your favorite character in the famous show like Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad.
The game does opens even more modes after achieving a number of victory. An example of a mode is the tournament where you fight against other players. You can also fight against your friend in a 1 vs 1 for some fun and do your own personal tournament. Lastly is the event section where you try to aim at birds or zombie waves.
Up to now, everything seem to show how cool and fun the Ultimate Bowmasters is. But the game has a very annoying flaw known as force ads. They are everywhere, each time you finish a match or change screen, you are force to watch an ads. Some character require you to watch 50 ads to unlock and those forced ads does not count.
While some ads can be voluntary watch to unlock characters and rewards which is fine. But forced ads is a no no for every mobile games. The worst part it’s selling package to remove those ads at $5.41. That’s a ripoff as they were the one inserting those ads at the first place, now they want you to pay them to remove it.
Beside the ads, despite a decent gameplay, i think things become boring after a couple of match as the map stays the same all the time. Changing background and opponents also become old quickly after some days. Some opponent have unfair ability that can kill you in 2 shot only. Those character are available for VIP meaning they are cash only characters.
No, I don’t think it’s worth watching ads after every single tap of your phone just to play a match. The gameplay is fun at the start but become quite boring after you watch your character doing a fatality for the 100 times. Ultimate Bowmasters is clearly a cash grab, VIP, characters locked behind a paywall and they are expensive too. Let’s not forget you have to pay to remove ads options that themselves inserted ads in their games.
It’s sad to see how they handle such a nice little game into an horrible cash grab game with poor monetization . Sorry for the fans of Bowmaster Series but this game is a bad one despite that you can play indefinitely. I think there are better game beside Ultimate Bowmasters. Darkest Afk is an idle Rpg game inspired by the famous roguelike Rpg game Darkest Dungeon. Although they share similar art style the game is different from the original game. Let’s find out more about this mobile game.
Strangely the game did not have any intro which kinda ruin the expectation of the Darkest dungeon vibes. Sadly you will know part of the story through a mediocre dialogues between characters. So basically you don’t know who you are and why are you going to fight. All these question will remain answered.
Darkest Afk will start in the middle of a conversation between heroes. Then you will engage a battle between your heroes and a demon boss. It’s the the type of fight where they give high level character fighting against some last boss of the game. Just to show you what kind of ability your heroes have and of course to show a bit about the game itself. So after your crushing defeat where you were not able to kill the boss and got separated from your allies, stripped from all your levels, gear and power. You will start with a level 1 character with nothing as the second part of the tutorial.
The tutorial will show you the basics about leveling, gearing, using abilities, fighting monsters and collecting idle rewards from your Mimic. Once you have progress enough in the story and have obtained your 3 heroes. In the castle, you will have access to buildings where you can summon heroes and spells. Access to shops, dungeons, labyrinth and tower. As usual here’s a short description of important buildings;
In Darkest Afk, you can put only 3 heroes in your roaster to fight. Choose 3 heroes of each class namely Support, Tank and DPS. Position the Tank in only front position and give your support and DPS the 2 back row position. Once preparation are done, you can start combat, the fight will look much like a brawl where enemies and heroes will hit each other in real time. After reaching enough energy they can use their skills either automatically or by you activating the skills for them.
Basically you go stage by stage to defeat enemies, note that each 5 stage will have a boss at the last wave. Do the same till you complete the chapter and repeat the same process again in the other chapter. Combat is really simple in this game, combat remain similar in other game mode, only the enemies will change. You may obtain positive Traits(Buffs) while on winning streak and also obtain negative ones if your on a losing streak.
As already mentioned, you will have 3 specific class of heroes with different role. Those heroes can be level up and upgraded to higher rarity if you have enough copies of them. Leveling will be capped on a certain level that’s why you will need to upgrade the heroes to a higher quality in order to continue leveling. You will have only 4 piece of gear for each type of heroes, they can be refined to a certain amount of star depending the rarity. In order to refine your gear you will need to sacrifice other unused gear and some gold.
If you are here because of the similar art style of Darkest Dungeon, you will definitely love Darkest Afk graphic. A dark gothic fantasy in 2D, unique to genre of Darkest Dungeon. Animation wise, it look a bit janky, the movement seems a bit odd.
The character seems to move like controlled puppets attached to strings. Heroes does look very different from each other, plus the fact that you have different race such as human, elves, dwarf, troll, vampire, demons, goblins and the list go on. Skill has simple animation with just a glow or something appearing out of nowhere.
You can just mange your equipment and heroes, change their position before combat and use their ultimate during combat if you are not using auto. You can also use spells from time to time but it can also be set in auto. The only thing left is for you to collect the idle rewards from your mimic.
Darkest Afk has only 3 background music which goes on endless loop and is mostly annoying the more you play the game. The sound effect is one of the weirdest sound i’ve heard, the heroes growl and grunt when using their skills.
As any idle game, Darkest Afk does not ask much of your time. It takes less than 10 min to complete your daily quests. However you need to come and collect your rewards every 8 hours which i feel a bit forcing my hand just to connect to the game for that. Progression is slow and will become slower the more you advance. The amount of reward collected on a day gives only enough resources to upgrade 1 heroes to 3 to 5 levels only. Remember your team is compose of 3 heroes, so i will the math to you for you to have an understanding of how slow things are.
Yes, Darkest Afk is totally F2P, no paywall or content locked behind VIP. For the VIP, you can obtain free VIP points by progressing through the game for free as you progress. Of course progression will be going to be slow but the game gives you enough gems daily for you to summon enough to be able to progress with a bit of RNG and patience.
No, Darkest Afk is not P2W. Even that game does have some P2W element like VIP but they only gives you a slight boost. At a certain point you will reach a wall where only patience will help accumulate enough resources to upgrade to go further. Also don’t forget that summoning heroes is random, so it does not guaranty you to obtain the hero you wanted no matter how many gems you will spend.
No ads beside it’s own advertisement of some package that may pop up from time to time.
The Darkest Afk shop is rather very simple. You will have the weekly and monthly subscription cards, the gems packages, completion rewards and of course the VIP packages. Price vary between $0.99 to $99.99, as usual be responsible when spending.
In all honesty, i don’t believe much that any idle game can last long enough and Darkest Afk is one of it. The game sadly does not have any element that may keep a player interested to play or spend money. No waifu collection, no thrill in the game play, no fun events, overall the game feels dull and boring. If the game were to have some element of rogue like Darkest Dungeon then the game may pick interest of players. Other than that, i would say good luck to the team to keep the game alive so far.
Darkest Afk comes with a small management as an RPG with little amount of heroes, gear and resources to manage. Making it one of the easiest idle game with simple management system for beginners. It’s always good for beginners to start game like this as it’s not complicated or complex to understand. Beside it’s a good side game that you can play from time to time.

Yes, Darkest Afk is a nice little idle game with very simple mechanics. The game have similar art style of Darkest Dungeon but it is not the same kind of game. Progression is a bit too slow even for an idle game, things does get boring once you reach a certain chapter in the game. So far it have the weirdest sound effect i have heard in the mobile games. Overall if your going to play this game, you should consider playing an entirely new game and forget about it being the Darkest Dungeon on mobile. If you do so, you will find a nice little idle game. If i wanted to recommend an action game to someone on mobile, i would say without hesitation try Boss Hunter. This game manage to exceed my expectation both in terms of game play, controls, game design and even they removed the play to earn aspect of it, the game is still a free game. The game is simple, enter the dungeon, choose a path, clear the floor from enemies, kill the boss, upgrade your character. Sounds simple enough as a basic RPG game where you explore dungeon and fight off enemies till you complete the dungeon, defeat the final boss and collect the treasure.
Boss Hunter took the dungeon part and made an action game where you will have to dodge bullet like in old arcade game style(bullet hell games) and also eliminate them in order to move to the next floor in a labyrinth style.
You are given a free character who looks like Ciri from the Witcher 3, you start with no equipment and is pointed to explore chapter 1 and to kill the boss in the wanted poster. You will easily learn the mechanics of hit and move to tackle you enemies who normally perform a specific attack pattern.
After clearing your first floor, you will be given the option of choosing between two path, those path contains different floors alone the way. You can’t return back in a previous floor or change the path unless given the option like a doted path.

Each time you complete a floor you will obtain a certain amount of experience, if you get enough experience you will level up. When you level up you will have 3 perks where you will have to choose 1 perk to continue, perks can be raw stats boost or give you additional abilities. You have defensive perks and offensive perks, choose which style suit you best.
After you kill your first boss and completed the dungeon, you can collect your first arcade coins from the bounty posters. Then you can level up your passives with the silver you have obtained, later on you will obtain cards from a specific daily dungeon and also obtain hero stone from doing the endless tower challenge.
You will find equipment in the chest in the dungeon but also the chests in the shop. All 3 different rarity chest have different cool down, they will give you a free equipment. Equipment rarity will vary in color from grey to gold, better rarity means more stats on it.
Upgrade your equipment and unlock socket by sacrificing a lower tier equipment. You can socket cards in the equipment in order to obtain even more passive stats.
Unlock other character with gems or arcade coins later on depending on your taste or your play style. Of course the game have other modes where you can obtain different currency beside playing the main adventure mode. Arena for the PVP fans and raids for those who needs runes and silver for some upgrade.
The 3D isometric view for this type of game is perfect to help you dodge bullets and enemies correctly. The model have a lot of details and also different character from different games which I’ll let you discover by yourself. A good balance in color which let you distinguish bullets and background without giving you a headache or strain for the eyes.
The idea of having only a control button on the screen seems outrageous for those who are used to grab any game controller with 2 hands, 1 hand for direction and the other to shoot but in boss hunter, they save your thumb and fingers from going numb tapping the screen to shoot. Each time you stop moving you will automatically fire which help you decide to hit or move to dodge with a single finger, giving the perfect control needed in this type of game.
A very discrete music, sound effect that match different type of bullet, i would say it’s good as it is.
Around 5 min to 1 hour per day as you will deplete the 25 stamina limit(40 stamina if you bought the premium). You consume only 5 stamina per run and stamina refills each 2 min 30 seconds.
It’s one of the best F2P game on mobile, everything in the game can be obtained in game without spending a cent. With time you can unlock every character, equipment and card, you can also farm the gems (cash currency) and Arcade coins by simply playing daily.
A typical cash shop with a premium membership which will give you benefits like more stamina, daily gems, more loots in dungeon for 3 days for $3.77 and 15 days for $15.30 if you want to support the game. The gems sells from $0.99 to $100, special offer gives you different package on discount varying from equipment, silver or gems and lastly character sells from $10.08 to $15.30. Note that you won’t get any overwhelming advantages but a fair start and less grinding than a free to play. You can also spend you arcade coins instead of cash to buy any of those package later on.

The endless tower challenge is the only reason your staying to play this game after completing the chapters, it’s the only place where you can obtain coins to upgrade your characters and obtain both gems and arcade coins at the same time. No wonder they name it endless tower!
Dodging all day may help you develop some reflexes and enhance your ability to coordinate both brain and brawn. You need to know who to prioritize or what power up seems better rather than going brainless on runs. Also choosing the appropriate path in the labyrinth is important before you tackle a boss, even in defeat you will learn the boss pattern to challenge it later. Learn from your defeat…that’s very Dark Souls like.
