Woodoku is a fun puzzle game which combine both tetris and sudoku together. For a new type of puzzle game, how did it manage to grab the attention of millions of people. Let’s dig in this Woodoku review and see what are the secrets.
How is Woodoku Game play?
The game starts with a mini tutorial, showing you how to solve the puzzle. The instructions are obviously simple, drag and drop different shape into a box. You will solve 3 puzzle then you can now start a new game. Woodoku is a puzzle game which combine the Tetris and Sudoku game together on a wooden theme.
Tetris
For those who don’t know! Tetris is primarily compose of a field of play in which pieces of different geometric forms, called “tetriminos” which descend from the top of the field. During this descent, the player can move the pieces laterally and rotate them. Until they touch the bottom of the field or land on another piece that had been placed before it.
The player can neither slow down the falling pieces nor stop them.The objective of the game is to use the pieces to create as many horizontal lines of blocks as possible. As you complete a line it automatically disappear and the blocks above falls one rank.
Sudoku
As for Sudoku game is to fill a 9×9 grid with digits so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 sub grids that compose the grid contains all of the digits from 1 to 9.The puzzle setter provides a partially completed grid, which for a well-posed puzzle has a single solution.
Woodoku
Woodoku takes the Sudoku board meaning a 9×9 grid and instead of number you will have to fill it with wooden blocks. Either you complete a horizontally line or vertically line or completing a block of 3×3, same as in Sudoku.
You have 3 different geometric forms and you need to place them in the 9×9 board with no time limit. Each time you finish placing the 3 forms, you will obtain 3 new forms again. So either you manage to complete the blocks and free space for the next 3 forms or you lose the game as you fail to have enough space.
Note that you cannot rotate the forms but on the other hand you have no time limit which let you calculate carefully where to place them. The trick is try make more space for the next 3 forms or at least freeing some space for them.
The daily quest is slightly different, they will randomly add gems instead of a wooden block on the board which you will need to obtain by completing the line or blocks. The gems will also be inside with the 3 forms. You will need a number of gems to collect to complete the challenge, try not to lose before or else you will need to start over.
How is Woodoku Graphic?
A beautiful mix of 2D and some basic 3D art. Woodoku have the layout and user interface well designed, the wooden theme match the name of the game with different tone of color of wood which let you easily identify or differentiate what you can tap or move.
Controls
The basic drag and drop, the control responds perfectly.
Sound & Music
No background music. The only music you will hear is when you complete a game and the sound effect are well done too. The game requires concentration so no music helps a lot.
What is Woodoku Game Length?
I play a match for around 5 min to 1 hour, it all depends on how well you play and also how lucky you get with the random forms.
Is Woodoku Free to play or Pay to win?
The game is entirely F2P with no micro transactions, which is really nice isn’t it? Yes but we do find ads in the game.
Ads
Sadly they force you to watch ads after a game which is a terrible way to show ads in 2021. Also an ads will appear at the top of you screen during the whole game making it quite disturbing for a puzzle game that demands some level of focus to play it efficiently.
What is Woodoku Life span?
A single daily quest given everyday to earn a jewel and also as achievement, you can also keep playing everyday and try to keep a 3, 10 and 24 daily wins strike to win a bigger jewels. In my Woodoku review i found that you can play indefinitely as the randomization of forms and challenge will always keep you going until you are satisfy. They have made a good model on how to expand the life span of a game in a good way.
Benefits
This game is good to exercise the brain, thinking forward for the next move. Thinking how to use those 3 form given efficiently or where to put them exactly. Those stimulation helps in everyday life decisions.

- If they could change the way the ads work, it would really nice to change the force to watch to choose to watch the ads.
- Maybe add a way to play against someone else like a duel system in the future instead of just a scoreboard.
- Also i have not found the game mode where they determine your brain age as shown in the official trailer, maybe it’s a time event or it was in previous version but they should change it if they removed it from the game because it’s fake publicity.

Yes, as they have a journey section where they are developing and a map where you will get awards when performing completing those challenges.
Should you play Woodoku?
Yes, definitely a good entertaining game to help your brain do some workout. Even the game do contains force ads, it’s not like you going to finish a party in 1 or 2 min specially if your playing well. If you overlook the ads it’s a good puzzle game for free to play. I can say that Woodoku review is a very positive one.
