Each time i play a game published by Playgendary Limited, I immediately know something fun and gruesome going to happen. While their games may look childish and completely innocent for our young players, it’s actually the opposite as flying organs and blood in all direction are all that is waiting for an older audience.
It is clear to me that they were inspired by Mortal combat for the violence part and by Worms for the artillery shooting style. I know all of that sounds confusing for now but it will make sense soon enough as I will break this down for you below.
In Ultimate Bowmasters, your goal is simple as the tutorial shows you. You starts on a 2D landscape map with slopes of different heights. This is where your selected character and the enemy will be placed random distance. All you have to do is to aim for the right angle and choose the amount of power to throw your weapon to your enemy.
Note that it is a turn base game where both will throw after each other each turn. Your goal is to inflict as much damage as possible to finish your opponent hp bar first. Once you successfully deplete the health bar, you will have another turn to finish your opponent in a mortal combat style for additional currency. Your opponent will also do the same to you if you lose.
Fatality plays an unique animation for each character that’s going to kill your opponent in some cool or unimpressive way. Hitting your opponent will hurt them and show the damage part of the body with blood and organs spilling out. Headshots deals critical damage, so be sure to take this to your advantage for a swift victory.
Characters are inspired by famous cartoon, game, anime, popular shows and film. To avoid any copyright issue, they cleverly change their name but you would immediately recognize your favorite character in the famous show like Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad.
The game does opens even more modes after achieving a number of victory. An example of a mode is the tournament where you fight against other players. You can also fight against your friend in a 1 vs 1 for some fun and do your own personal tournament. Lastly is the event section where you try to aim at birds or zombie waves.
Up to now, everything seem to show how cool and fun the Ultimate Bowmasters is. But the game has a very annoying flaw known as force ads. They are everywhere, each time you finish a match or change screen, you are force to watch an ads. Some character require you to watch 50 ads to unlock and those forced ads does not count.
While some ads can be voluntary watch to unlock characters and rewards which is fine. But forced ads is a no no for every mobile games. The worst part it’s selling package to remove those ads at $5.41. That’s a ripoff as they were the one inserting those ads at the first place, now they want you to pay them to remove it.
Beside the ads, despite a decent gameplay, i think things become boring after a couple of match as the map stays the same all the time. Changing background and opponents also become old quickly after some days. Some opponent have unfair ability that can kill you in 2 shot only. Those character are available for VIP meaning they are cash only characters.
No, I don’t think it’s worth watching ads after every single tap of your phone just to play a match. The gameplay is fun at the start but become quite boring after you watch your character doing a fatality for the 100 times. Ultimate Bowmasters is clearly a cash grab, VIP, characters locked behind a paywall and they are expensive too. Let’s not forget you have to pay to remove ads options that themselves inserted ads in their games.
It’s sad to see how they handle such a nice little game into an horrible cash grab game with poor monetization . Sorry for the fans of Bowmaster Series but this game is a bad one despite that you can play indefinitely. I think there are better game beside Ultimate Bowmasters. A mysterious unworldly event altered your phone and became a portal into the Leap universe, establishing a connection between you and alien waifus.
After a nice 3D intro, you start with some dialog between you and some alien waifus known as Leapers. The start of the tutorial which guide you through all the basics of the game, you may notice that the game has 2 different phase.
The first phase consist of the exploration part where you move the leapers to engage in dialogues or start a fight like in Pokemon. Only thing different here, is that you won’t encounter any monster randomly. As for the second phase, you’ve guess it already, it’s combat itself. Combat itself will have it’s Pre fight where you will need to place a certain amount of Leaper on a 8×6 board.
You may have a certain limit of how much Leaper, you can deploy on the board and sometime some other restrictions depending on the stage. Also you can only place them on one side of the board(left side normally). Once fully prepared and having the right positioning for example tank in front and mage in the back. You can start the fight where the leapers will start moving and fight automatically.
Note at the bottom of your screen, you will notice the avatar of your leaper that will glow after the energy bar is full. During that phase, you can use the ultimate of the Leaper or choose to put auto mode on or off for each leaper on the field. Another important thing is synergy and bonuses between units for example using 3 units of the same faction will give you a bonus or using 3 units of the same type also grants you a bonus in stats.
Another important factor of the game is the idle part of the game, you can start obtaining your resources once you finish first chapter. This is one of the only game that have a 24 hour collect limit which i appreciate a lot. This means your not a slave to the game where you need to connect every 8 or 12 hours daily. The deeper you mine, the better the rewards gets. You can survey the information to collect your reward, hasten a quick survey for 2 hours of idle collect.
Space Leaper Cocoon has a very unique system, leveling is basically the same as other idle game where you pump resources into a unit until you reach a level cap. Once the level cap is reached, you will need to limit break your unit to reach the next level cap. This game only have 5 star max and a max level of level 150 but this is only the first step of upgrading a unit. After you manage to 5 star your unit with fragment that you manage to collect, you can start working on upgrading the Phase which will have 3 level. Phase will need different resources and fragment to upgrade, so i consider it a late game upgrade.
Let’s not forget about Micro Chain where you get bonuses for upgrading other units that are link to this Leaper. It’s a bit like a friend system where you unlock more things for your main units while upgrading the other Leapers and completing your collection. Lastly is the affection system which you will need to work on it, you will need to offer lot’s of gift and take that unit to the Journey Center a lot to create a solid bond.
Skill is very straight forward, you will just need to upgrade the grade of your Leaper to obtain higher level skill. Only skill that you will need to upgrade separately is the Character Gear which acts like a unique weapon. Luckily no need to farm or pull for it in a Gacha, but you will need to farm Iridescent Array for resources to upgrade it. It will change grade with level and will unlock new effect for the units but you may need to level up your unit to a certain grade for that.
Thankfully Leaper needs only 3 gear for 3 different type of class namely Tank, Mage and Fighter. Your gear can be level up but the level cap will depends on the quality of the gear namely common, qualified, standard, advanced, refined and legendary. Legendary will have secondary stats lines compared to the common gear and also the level cap will be different. Your primary gear attributes will always stay the same but your secondary gear attributes will be randomly unlock at each level cap.
As usual to avoid a never ending article and in order to avoid you too many spoiler for you. So that you can play the game with some knowledge, here’s a list of other modes and important things that you will see in the game. This is only a brief description of modes but the combat will remain the same, only the stage and rules that may change.
Space Leaper Cocoon has taken the retro pixel art path in terms of graphics. From live 2D models to classic rpg miniature characters as the first final fantasy game. The character of the game are rather unique as they are a mixture of animal, robot and waifu. Resulting into a mix which you have never seen in any other game. The battle goes on in a grid base battle field and the animation of ultimate has nothing special.
Controls is not Space leapers cocoon fort, the game give you control only before battle. The rest of the control are left to the AI during the whole battle. Only thing you could do, is to tap the ultimate skill button if you didn’t activate the auto play.
If you happened to like retro music, you will absolutely love the music theme of Space Leaper Cocoon. A very nice retro background music for a modern game is very rare, music does go on loop but you’ll never get tired listening to it. Each Leaper have it’s own voice actor with multiple lines which are unique, for example some may have a voice like talking underwater or using auto tune. Sound effect are also very well done, overall i give full mark on the work on the team who worked on the music and sound effects.
The daily routine of this game takes around 15 min to complete. Whereas the game play itself make take some hours specially if your pushing your progress in the campaign. The game has different mode to keep you busy so you can easily choose the number of time your going to spend as there’s no pressure to keep up with other player.
I would say the game is very F2P friendly as how easily you can obtain resources to summon. You don’t need natural 3 star units to finish the game as the revolves more on team composition. You can easily buy fragments of units in the shop which refresh weekly. Making the process to max a unit easier as you won’t really need to summon to progress further. All content are available to play and no paywall.
I would not really call it P2W as the only advantage you will get is additional resources including summons. But remember that obtaining units are random so even with a thousand summons won’t guarantee you to max a unit right away. Beside PVP i can’t find any P2W elements you can get.

The shop offer the basic service as all gacha games that is daily, weekly, monthly, promotional, summon, currency, subscription and gems packages. Price will vary between $0.99 to $99.99 but be careful when buying multiple package as it may cost you more than that.
Considering Space Leaper Cocoon is an idle game, we could imagine that the game would have a very long life span. Specially if they are going to introduce new heroes and events to keep the old player busy collecting Leaper. But I’m worried about this game future, although the game is an excellent idle game with all kind of unique modes and characters. The main problem is there’s no endgame content after completing the campaign. This is a gaping hole that will make the game lose a lot of it’s player base overtime including me. So i would not be surprise the game would close there server in 1 year as they may have a low player base.
As all idle game, time and resource management is key of getting a good progression. This will avoid you being stuck on a stage for days. This game is very beginner friendly in terms of management of resources, free reset on units until a certain level, easy upgrade system and easy gear system. Learn different strategy with different type of units and various team composition plus the units positioning.
New events and new leapers are coming out nearly every month.
Yes, Space Leaper Cocoon is a good idle game with balanced amount of contents to keep busy enough and also a game that doesn’t consume too much of your precious time. The game is very unique idle game that we could easily compare to the other copy paste idle game with a different skin. Once you complete the campaign there’s not much to do beside raising your leapers to max and grinding everyday stage in a repeated way. This is where i see a big flaw in this game, no real endgame content beside collecting leaper and raising them to unlock different illustration. But overall it’s an excellent idle game that i would highly recommend you to play and i hope they would add new features for endgame. Artery Gear Fusion starts with a short intro where the main character “Nio” is preparing to land on earth to fight the enemy. This is the tutorial where you will learn about using your skill in combat. After a mix of conversation and combat, you will encounter a boss. Note that they will borrow you some of the best units during this fight. Once you beat the boss, the game will continue with some conversation again, then will point you to continue your mini tutorials on stage 1-1.
The game play is simple, form a team of 4 units, select a stage, then move from point A to point B and clear all the waves using your skills. Of course you will have multiple mechanics to more depth and make it more interesting but the general idea is like that in all RPG. Most of the time will be managing our gears and units or mostly grinding stages for resources. This is a turn based RPG where speed is king but some unit (Alice)can boost the charge bar of other units in order to get a turn before the enemy.
The units in this game are name AG, those cute mecha girl who you will need to level up and equipped. You will have 5 different class with 3 different element. The class are
There’s a 6 one but they are not for combat, these units give you experience boost. You can also awaken a unit by obtaining duplicate of that unit up to 6 times. Let’s not forget you can upgrade technology of a unit on each 10 level, up to 6 times. The game also uses a pyramid system to upgrade your units up to 6 star. Sacrifice low star unit in order to upgrade them to the next star.
Luckily this game does give you fodders and units that are already max level to make the grinding less gruesome. You can always buy those units in the shop or simply grind some stage to obtain them. They are rather easy to obtain but energy wise, it’s better you wait for events where you will need to grind currency to exchange, then you can get those units at the same time. Get two bird with one stone.The game does have an elemental weakness and strength system. The basic Molten beats Crystal, Crystal beats Thunder and Thunder beats Molten. No light or dark unit which i like very much.
Once you have obtain enough units you will select 4 of them to fight. Forming a balance team is not too important early on but later when you will fight boss, you will need a proper team formation. a healer, a tank and a dps, the 4th unit can be anything. Position 1 and 2 are normally position in the front and the 3 and 4 are the back line. The first two position will receive most of the attack but that does not mean your back line won’t get attacked.
Gear is probably more important than your AG later on, those are your equipment which you will need to tackle harder contents. They have different rarity such as Green, Blue, Purple and Gold. Each rarity adds a line of sub stats to the gear. Meaning a green gear will have 1 line of sub stats and Gold will have 4 line of sub stats. But that’s not all, the sub stats also have the same rarity system, so getting gold sub stats is consider the best gear in the game.
Don’t forget that all sub stats have a range from minimum to maximum value which make the gear system a really complex. So before building a unit, you will need to see what stats the unit need the most. Good news is that you have people that already created a spreadsheet that can calculate those for you. So you will just need to farm the gear and evaluate if it’s a good or bad gear. Later, you can disassemble those gear for gold and a rare material which can be used to cast later on.
To avoid long and boring article about each of them. I will just describe briefly other content of the game that are important. Here is the list of any other thing on your screen.
Artery Gear Fusion uses a 2D animated art to represent the units and a static image as background. The illustration are top notch with high amount of details and you get to see the animated version if you use them as background. Unfortunately this is the only way you can see them animated as you will have no other way to see them move, but there’s nothing big your missing as tapping the unit will only change her face expression.
In combat the game, the graphic is a linear 2D with miniature version of your units including the enemy. The question is why change the art style to this? Anyway, the interface looks neat, the text conversation color are good and font are at the right side. As for people who are here for the fan service, you will be served. Skins are really cool but is only available for some units right now.
Despite a rather simple look, the game does have a good layer of strategy which you have to control. Before battle you will need to set your units, gear, support units and position them correctly. In battle you will need to choose between 3 skills depending on the unit. Note that the auto play will mess the skill combination of your units most of the time if not set properly. For example use the dps ultimate before applying def reduction debuff on the enemy. But don’t worry you can set up the AI for auto in this game.
The AI has 2 drop down for each skill, those 2 are the condition that need to be fulfill. For example if you want your healer to heal after the hp is below 25% and never use the skill as priority if the condition is not met. It may sound difficult at the start but you should grasp the concept easily. During combat you can call a support unit to buff or deal damage to the enemy when the energy bar is fill. The energy bar fills up every time you take an action so be sure to know how to use it efficiently.
Artery Gear Fusion has one of the best rhythmic music i’ve heard for a mobile game. The game sound effects are also good, clashing of steel or firing a laser beam, etc. All units have it’s own voice acting and does have multiple line. You do unlock more line when you level up your affection with the unit. However the game has no voice acting for any conversation in the story which is a bummer.
The daily quests takes around 10 min to complete. But in order to progress in the game, you will have to do some grinding depending on what you need. Luckily they have a good QOL(Quality of Life) which let you grind 30 times a stage if you have the energy and if you already cleared the stage. Meaning you can farm gear or other resources without having to stay and watch all 30 runs. Campaign and Events are relatively short, the story between each combat extends it.
Yes, Artery Gear Fusion is very F2P friendly. You will receive sufficient amount of resources and freebies to be able to complete everything in the game. You even get enough gems to do at least 2 or 3 pull for every banner which is very nice for F2P. However you should understand as a F2P that you can’t obtain all the girls and that you will reach some bottleneck of gold and energy at some point.
No, Artery Gear Fusion is not P2W, Even that it does have potential of been one. As a spender you will have some advantage compare to a F2P. You will have much more resources to summon, do more runs for gear and obtain more gold. The only place where you will outshine a F2P is PVP and World Boss which is quite normal for every mobile game.

The cash shop has nearly everything similar to all other mobile games. The classic daily, weekly and monthly packages, Battle Pass, Skins, in game currency refill, gold refill and monthly subscription. The price of the packages varies between $0.99 to $99.99, as usual be careful and responsible when spending in a Gacha game.
Artery Gear Fusion has already got the attention of many fans and players, although they had a rough start due to limited daily stamina refill issue but they manage to fix it with events and new contents in the game. They also posted a roadmap so that you can see what’s coming next and what to expect from the game. Another positive point, they do listen to the community and does not take years to answer you. That being said, i think they are the right direction and if they continue on this path. Artery Gear Fusion will be still with us for 2 or 3 years from now.
As all RPG, managing your time, resources and units is one of the main aspect of the game. I think you will learn how to efficiently manage things to a level as a real manager. Don’t forget you will also benefit from trying different units and strategy in arena and in the game. While many of people may like the Fan service part, i would advice parents to keep this game away from your kids.
They update on every 2 weeks with new banner for summon, new events and bug fixes.You can check their road map if you want to know more about it in the community section. Any new content takes a bit more time.
It’s definitely a big YES. The game is gold, good graphics, good animation, good combat, good music and the list goes on. The game did have some issue with stamina early on but they manage to solve it. No stamina = No grind = No resources = No account progression. Another issue the game currently is still having, the events are too short and are too easy to complete. You can complete the whole game in 2 days and events within 2 hours which leave you nothing to do beside grinding to upgrade units. I really hope they can fix this issue as soon as possible.
I had a really great time playing Artery Gear Fusion, had a blast with building and trying different type of units to complete the target elimination. The campaign was relatively easy to beat, even the hard mode was not really that hard. The girls are lovable specially Corax(for me) in the background. Anyway Artery Gear Fusion hold a special place in my top list of good mobile game and sadly this game is not in par with the giant like E7, at least not yet.
