Land of Empires: Immortal is a brand new strategy game on mobile with promising graphic. The game seems to be a city builder primary and a side RPG as a secondary game at first sight, without wasting any more of your time, let’s check if that is true.
What is the Story of Land of Empires?
The demons are attacking!
The war between the forces of light and darkness has raged on for a millennium and spilled over into the mortal realms.
The demons have returned to wreak havoc on humanity. Cities had been falling with numerous lives eking out a living. The land is in desperate need of a savior.
It’s your time to shine. Lead the survivors, forge them into an army, defeat the demons, reclaim lost lands, rebuild fallen cities, and restore the glory of humanity.
How is the Game play of Land of Empires?
The game starts with an emergency message about the dead army roaming the land. You continue the dialogue and takes control of El-Cid that will help you go through the tutorial. The tutorial switch between dialog and combat, in order to advance you will need to defeat the enemy waves. To help you advance, they will offer you some assistance of a legendary hero: Valkyrie. Your heroes will fight in auto battle, so you just need to watch the show for now. Once you cleared all the waves, a little animation will play about the situation of the land.
After the video, you will now switch to city builder mode and this is the second part of the tutorial will start. Be ready to be used to switch between dialogue and performing an action. Learn to build, upgrade, collect resources, liberate lands, free villagers, expand your territory until the tutorial is completely over. If you manage to finish all of them, then congratulations you are now in the real game with a shield on your city.
From now everything is rather straight forward, be used to switch between inside and outside your settlement for the rest of your game play as most of the action gonna require you to do so. Inside your settlement, you will be building and upgrading your buildings, researching new technologies, training troops, upgrading your dragon, leveling and upgrading your heroes. Let’s not forget to upgrade your heroes gear and troop formation, drawing the daily summons and collecting daily free stamina.
Outside your settlement, you will see an open world in landscape. Everything from players to enemies show up on the map, you can also see your own city too. As all city builder, you will need different resources to train troops or to build and upgrade buildings. So this is where you can send our troops to collect them on specific mines. You can also attack undead troops roaming around but be careful not trying to fight high level ones. The game normally give you an indication if your are going to win or lose a battle. You can also attack other player but i would strongly advice to avoid making enemy at the start of the game.
If you remember about the tutorial part with El-Cid at the start, you might be happy as you will have a mode for it. Select between 3 heroes of each class which is Infantry, Archery and Cavalry. Once you selected your heroes, you can move them either in the back or front position depending on their ability. You can now start the battle where your heroes will run through a path and fight waves of enemies. Note that your hero will charge up a bar during battle and will activate a powerful skill when it’s full. The last wave will normally have a boss at the end, it will have similar ability as your heroes. A charge up skill that will kill all your heroes easily if not deal quickly, so be careful.
At some point, you will have access to control an army of each category under each heroes. Here you will select your 3 heroes of each category, then select the number of soldier for each category and let’s not forget your dragon. The amount of soldier will depend on your heroes and technology level. Each category will have strength and weaknesses, so better but a balanced army for each category at the start. Now you can start the battle, you will see your heroes and army fighting against another army and heroes. Sadly you can’t change or control the on going battle, you will need to just watch 2 computer fighting each other.
Land of Empire has another mode where you control only 1 hero on a small map. The map will have sentry guard with a range of sight which you need to avoid and sometime you will need to kill them in order to move forward. To kill a guard you will need to get behind them and you will see a button pop up that will trigger an animation of a take down. You can also hide in the wheat field or wait to ambush the guard. The mission is to save some prisoners at the end of the map, avoid sounding the alarm and try to sneak away as best as you can. If your familiar with Commando or Splinter Cell game, the mission should be pretty easy to complete.
As usual here a list of things that will appear on your game which are important, here’s a brief description of them.

- Alliance – Donation, Alliance Tech, Help, Events are here
- Hero – Upgrade, level up and unlock your heroes here

What type of Graphic does Land of Empires use?
Land of Empires is in a full 3D graphic, the game looks awesome in all the available modes. Beautiful both inside and outside the settlement, the heroes look well detailed, combat animation looks cool. Heroes are animated, that even the jiggle physics of the female might make you stare for some seconds. Clean interface with straight forward action button that triggers when need in some game mode. Skins for city and troops looks good too if those matter to you. You can see a good amount of detail on the world map including animals and plants, troops marching, etc.
How is the Controls in Land of Empires?
I think it’s the elephant in the room, control is not the forte of Land of Empire. Beside selecting an army, heroes and dragon to collect resources or attacking enemies. All the battle are on auto battle which mean you have little to no control at all once you send your troop away. In hero battle, the thing applies, you cannot change formation or position of your heroes during waves once battle has started. You just watch the AI battle, in the end making the game seems like a simulation where all you do is tap one button and watch.
Sound & Music
In terms of music, Land of Empires have different background music for each game mode. The music is going to be on auto repeat for your entire game play, so muting the game won’t change much your play through. Part of the story does have some voice acting but it’s another game where they either run out of budget or simply time to do so for the whole game. Heroes does have some lines which they use when using their skills. The sound effect are good, no complain here.
What is the Game Length of Land of Empires?
Land of empires is a city builder, making it one of the most time consuming game at the start but things will gradually change to a passive game later on. The daily takes around 30 min to complete which is great. But in order to progress faster, you may need to do more than daily quests. You will need some dedication and time to be able to keep up with the events to have a decent progression. Events duration may vary from hours to some minutes, while other are only simple trivial quests of you playing the game normally like collecting resources or training troops. Progression will slow down later where things will start taking weeks to upgrade.
Is Land of Empire Free to play?
Land of Empires is F2P, you will have access to the complete game with enough resources to progress steadily. However the game is not that F2P in terms of events and accessibility for some heroes and dragon. Events are very hard to complete as F2P meaning you will have less reward and have a slow progression overall. By the time you will manage to catch up to cash player, the game would have already have new content and cash upgrades.
Is Land of Empire Pay to win?
It’s no surprise that Land of Empires is very P2W. The game scale tilt towards players who spend the most, to advance faster and become stronger you will need to spend money. Events are mostly a battle of wallets instead of wits and strategy, they are mostly reserved for cash players as most of the time quests will favor those who are willing to spend some money on the game. Some heroes, skins, frames and dragon is exclusively obtainable via cash and they do give you additional bonus stats. Also the VIP system will always indicate if the game going to be F2P or P2W.
The cash shop will have multiple packages like monthly, weekly, VIP, dragon, heroes and gems for all type of spenders. Price will vary between $0.99 to $99.99 which is the typical price of packages for a mobile game. But spenders should be careful as many packages are not worth your money and as always keep an eye on the amount you will spend. Many of these packages don’t have a limit, so you may end up spending more than you would want at the end of the month. Note the presence of random reward system via a gacha system which is consider gambling as you are not guaranty to obtain the best reward unless you spend a lot of money. So as usual be careful when your spending or your children is spending on these packages.
What is the Life span of Land of Empire?
Land of Empires is a solid city builder game with competition as it’s main foundation to keep the player interested. Whether your a passive player who plays time to time or a hardcore gamer who is online all day, the game gives you the choice to choose your pace. Good graphic, events and diverse heroes make the game more interesting, thus making a good player base easily for long and short term. The game should be fine for some years if they continue to deliver fair events and new contents.
Without a doubt the game promotes quick thinking and formulating strategies but that isn’t entirely the truth if you are not fighting against opponent with equal power. So it is not really has the same benefits as your classic RTS games but has close enough for you to have some fun. Communication skill will greatly improve special for clan managers. Command and communicate to an efficient manner with members of different languages, become better than any Human resources in real life! Learn things like survival of the fittest or united you stand and divided you fall.
- Make all items in the game available for F2P
- Change the quests in event that require you to spend to complete the last 10% of the event
- Make the other dragon not cash exclusive
- More control in battle mode
- Allow change in formation between waves
- Put some bonus for using a group of heroes, else other would become useless
- Increase the rate of legendary fragment in gacha
- Better rewards in events
- Easier way to obtain Shield after been attacked
They have on going events ongoing nearly every day and week. They even have a calendar for you to keep up with the list of incoming events. They always announce in advance changes and fixes in the coming updates and does communicate every bit of change in the game.
Should you play Land of Empire?
Land of Empires is a solid game with good graphic, good amount of content, good player base and is a good alternative to other more popular city builder like Rise of kingdoms. For the answer i would say Yes but it will largely depend on what server your going to start playing and what type of player you will encounter. The answer would be a big Yes if your going to spend. The game rewards you enough for your money spend and let you enjoy the game at it’s fullest.
If your F2P, tread carefully or stay away from these type of games. As F2P has little benefits, a slow progression and will be in disadvantage at all stage of the game. Beside the never ending war between F2P and P2W, the game is almost a carbon copy of all other city builder. Same type of events, heroes, upgrade system and even game play except the sneak mission in the tutorial part. The other battle mode sucks as they are all in auto battle which in the end make you just tap the play button and watch the AI fight. So how is that call playing the game? Thank you for reading till the end, i will see you on another review.
