Final Gear is a new strategic collection RPG game featuring “Mechs & Maidens”(Mechas and Waifus). You will have to try to collect all the waifus and obtain their custom mech during your adventure, playing each stages and reading the story itself. So as usual we will try to cut this big game into a review for everyone, let’s dive in.
In a future, in a fantasy world, a devastating meteor blow has changed the prosperous land into a wasteland. The survivor of this land tried to rebuild it to it’s former glory but failed because of the scarce resources. So progress turned into a rivalry between three major countries. You are a mercenary group that’s not affiliated to any specific country and your agent “Evelynn” is piloting a Mecha to a resource site.
The game starts as usual with a tutorial, a very lengthy tutorial. Your on a map where you have to move on the road and is given instruction to move to the resource site as hinted in the story above.
As your moving you will encounter enemies and will start battle with a swirly animation like in pokemon. When you enter battle the switch to a side scroller game, enemy will spawn everywhere on the screen like metal slug style.
Eliminate the enemies by shooting them, you can move left or right direction, you can move your mecha to avoid dangerous enemies or create distance with them, you also have a meter bar that fills up when you kill enemies, when full it will let you use your ultimate skill.
Clearing everything to progress to the next screen until you meet a boss. Note that boss will have multiple life bar and does have special skills, if you fail to kill the first boss you will have to restart the tutorial again.
The game will unlock multiple modes after clearing certain stage of the story such as pvp, events, resources, raids, bounties. The gameplay is technical the same thing for all 3 mode in the history.
Escort – where you protect a target from enemies till it reach it’s destination
Attack – kill all enemies on the map
Defense – Protect the base from incoming enemies
So in brief, you have a world map where you go from stage to stage, then the stage itself have a map where you will have to move your character on the designated road to achieve your target, then each time you encounter an enemy on the map you will fight in side scroller mode till you kill all enemies.
The game does have a managing side where you will have to equip, upgrade your pilots(waifus) and mechas between battles. It does also have a simulation part where you date and even marry your favorite waifu, meaning you have a affection system where gifts are important.
Beautiful 2D art of mechs and waifu, waifu are well animated with even some fanservice including pantyshots. The game isn’t beautiful like the animation, you get a reduce version : chibi of the mechs in battle with a pixel like retro arcade games. The skin are well animated and some characters does have a special animation in anime.
As the game is a side scroll game, control is rather simple, your character can shoot only in 2 direction with left and right shooting button and you can move 1 character in all direction, the 3 other character will be on auto mode. You can turn off or on the ultimate of each character of your team. You can also select between 3 formation during combat, free, defensive and group which you can change depending on the situations.
The old classic arcade action game, this is what it sound like to me when i was playing. Good sound effect and good voice acting but the story and dialog don’t have any voice acting which make the history less immersive as you will have to read the text or simply skip it out of boredom.
I can say around 2 or 3 hours daily easily with the daily missions and events only. I would say around 10 hours if your playing the story, as you don’t have an energy system that really prevent you from stop playing all day. Even the number of bounties can be refreshed quite cheaply with gems extending your play through even more.
It’s a F2P game who’s very generous to free to play but on the other hand it’s a gatcha game meaning you will have to use a lot of currency to obtain the best results in a banner. Making free to play to choose a banner and skip many other new units which is where the pay to win aspect goes in. That means a cash player will always have full custom mechs with the latest unit already maxed with the paid gems system.
The custom mech can bought with currency that you can grind ingame and some skin will be available with earn gems. You can finish the story with only blue and purple units, you can recruit units everyday with no need of summoning, same goes crafting custom mech parts. As long as you play the game the game will reward you enough to enjoy your play through.
No ads.
It cover generally everything from daily, weekly and monthly package, promo package, one time package, subscription package, paid gem package, gift packs, skin package and without forgetting the season pass. Price vary from $0.99 to $100. Note that some skins and items in the shop are only available with paid gems.
Despite having daily missions, achievements, collection of mechs and waifus, the game won’t survive that long. Why? Because it’s all repetitive gameplay where you can’t skip and have to leave your phone on auto for 1 or 2 hour daily. I feel most of the player will burn out after the honeymoon period is over. It’s gameplay is simply not interesting to watch after seeing the same animation playing for the 1000 times.
Managing a team of character and mechs parts always helps someone grow in terms of management itself. The game is a gatcha so it may be dangerously addictive to a person or a child, it’s like a casino giving you some free chips to start playing, so beware.
Every game with waifu always have a community:
A skip button in combat, another one to skip special animation. Order applying to a single unit instead of the whole team while fighting. Better AI for bombers in auto mode. Skip for a single dialog not skip all the conversation. A history of the conversation if you missed something. Remove those clear this stage to unlock this feature specially after the long tutorial.
New banners with new units every month, they also do events with different duration.
If your a fan of collecting waifu it’s a YES but if your more into gameplay than collection then i would can skip this one. The game itself is not bad, it’s more like an empty shell, looks pretty sounds nice but the gameplay is too much repetitive things that you have to watch over and over. The only gameplay is managing the teams and pushing the button to start grinding for hours. In the end the game seems to have great potential but feels incomplete.

If i wanted to recommend an action game to someone on mobile, i would say without hesitation try Boss Hunter. This game manage to exceed my expectation both in terms of game play, controls, game design and even they removed the play to earn aspect of it, the game is still a free game. Let’s check what’s this game have to offer.
The game is simple, enter the dungeon, choose a path, clear the floor from enemies, kill the boss, upgrade your character. Sounds simple enough as a basic RPG game where you explore dungeon and fight off enemies till you complete the dungeon, defeat the final boss and collect the treasure.
Boss Hunter took the dungeon part and made an action game where you will have to dodge bullet like in old arcade game style(bullet hell games) and also eliminate them in order to move to the next floor in a labyrinth style.
You are given a free character who looks like Ciri from the Witcher 3, you start with no equipment and is pointed to explore chapter 1 and to kill the boss in the wanted poster. You will easily learn the mechanics of hit and move to tackle you enemies who normally perform a specific attack pattern.
After clearing your first floor, you will be given the option of choosing between two path, those path contains different floors alone the way. You can’t return back in a previous floor or change the path unless given the option like a doted path.

Each time you complete a floor you will obtain a certain amount of experience, if you get enough experience you will level up. When you level up you will have 3 perks where you will have to choose 1 perk to continue, perks can be raw stats boost or give you additional abilities. You have defensive perks and offensive perks, choose which style suit you best.
After you kill your first boss and completed the dungeon, you can collect your first arcade coins from the bounty posters. Then you can level up your passives with the silver you have obtained, later on you will obtain cards from a specific daily dungeon and also obtain hero stone from doing the endless tower challenge.
You will find equipment in the chest in the dungeon but also the chests in the shop. All 3 different rarity chest have different cool down, they will give you a free equipment. Equipment rarity will vary in color from grey to gold, better rarity means more stats on it.
Upgrade your equipment and unlock socket by sacrificing a lower tier equipment. You can socket cards in the equipment in order to obtain even more passive stats.
Unlock other character with gems or arcade coins later on depending on your taste or your play style. Of course the game have other modes where you can obtain different currency beside playing the main adventure mode. Arena for the PVP fans and raids for those who needs runes and silver for some upgrade.
The 3D isometric view for this type of game is perfect to help you dodge bullets and enemies correctly. The model have a lot of details and also different character from different games which I’ll let you discover by yourself. A good balance in color which let you distinguish bullets and background without giving you a headache or strain for the eyes.
The idea of having only a control button on the screen seems outrageous for those who are used to grab any game controller with 2 hands, 1 hand for direction and the other to shoot but in boss hunter, they save your thumb and fingers from going numb tapping the screen to shoot. Each time you stop moving you will automatically fire which help you decide to hit or move to dodge with a single finger, giving the perfect control needed in this type of game.
A very discrete music, sound effect that match different type of bullet, i would say it’s good as it is.
Around 5 min to 1 hour per day as you will deplete the 25 stamina limit(40 stamina if you bought the premium). You consume only 5 stamina per run and stamina refills each 2 min 30 seconds.
It’s one of the best F2P game on mobile, everything in the game can be obtained in game without spending a cent. With time you can unlock every character, equipment and card, you can also farm the gems (cash currency) and Arcade coins by simply playing daily.
A typical cash shop with a premium membership which will give you benefits like more stamina, daily gems, more loots in dungeon for 3 days for $3.77 and 15 days for $15.30 if you want to support the game. The gems sells from $0.99 to $100, special offer gives you different package on discount varying from equipment, silver or gems and lastly character sells from $10.08 to $15.30. The endless tower challenge is the only reason your staying to play this game after completing the chapters, it’s the only place where you can obtain coins to upgrade your characters and obtain both gems and arcade coins at the same time. No wonder they name it endless tower!
Dodging all day may help you develop some reflexes and enhance your ability to coordinate both brain and brawn. You need to know who to prioritize or what power up seems better rather than going brainless on runs. Also choosing the appropriate path in the labyrinth is important before you tackle a boss, even in defeat you will learn the boss pattern to challenge it later. Learn from your defeat…that’s very Dark Souls like.

To build the bridge, you will be given different part with limited quantity. You will have to make the a strong bridge from those parts. The parts could be a wooden planks, long or short support structures, balloons, weights, etc.
Once the bridge completed your hero will cross it to go for the next platform. The stage is divided into different section, a section will normally contain 2 platform and a bridge to build. After you complete all the section you will complete the stage.
You will collect gold and keys while moving between platforms, this gold can be used to buy new skins at the end a some stages. The keys will let you open 3 of 9 golden chest after a stage. You also get a hammer part for each stage which after getting a number of them will let you unlock a new building.
You have no time limit and the bridge are really easy to figure which is a bummer. No real challenge, even if you fail you will restart at the section you fail. You will unlock skins and buildings along the way but they don’t give any additional effect or bonus. So you they are only for collection or for your personal achievement.
A 2D cartoon animation with some decent background, the skins look like a 2D image stick on a 3D model and does have some 3D buildings. A good mix of color and overall it does look great for a cartoon animation although it lacks some details. Some skin does have some cameo of famous game character like Gerald from the Witcher or Kratos from God of war.

The game have only 3 different music for each screen, the music have a fun and rhythmic theme but you will turn it off after 15 min for hearing it auto repeat endlessly. The sound effects are good, your character don’t talk they just mumble or scream.
Game can be between 1 to 10 min per stage depending how fast you are figuring it out.
F2P but contains force ads. They have some micro transaction which remove the ads for $3.55 and another one for a special skin which you pay $7.11 weekly. They don’t give you any additional advantage beside some quality of life.
Despite having some decency to give you the option to watch an ads or skip it, they also force you to watch ads after each stage, after failing and sometimes just randomly. Skins and achievements are gated behind ads, only good thing is you won’t find an ads on your playing screen.
With only a poor achievement method and hiding the total number of stages in the game. If we also remove the ads delays between each stage, the game is literally short. It’s a poor method on how to keep the game going.
The game does have some educational features, for those who never did physics in school, many examples are given how to build a good infrastructure for a bridge at least. But some item given later, defy the very law of physics and gravity making it a bad example for learning.
