A cute turtle welcomes you to fishdom. After asking for your name and forcing you to buy a fish, your ready to start playing. The level will alternate between a minigame puzzle and a 3 match game( the main game).
The puzzle games will be different from each other, games like comparison, calculation, choice or even tetris. I personally didn’t discover all of them as i’m stuck at a certain stage for days, i will comeback on this subject later on.
The main game is without any doubt, another 3 match game which Playrix is very familiar, like the scapes series(homescapes). But we are not here to talk about those games today. However the same rules and mechanics applies to all those 3 match games of the company.
The 3 match game will have different levels which increments once you beat it. Rules are simple clear the designated tiles under a number of turns and consider the level completed. Your reward will be calculated of how many move and bonus you have left on the board.
You will unlock all kind of bonus that will help you clear the board easily. From mines, bombs, lightning and other bonus that you can pick before a level starts. You can also obtain them from combining the right amount of same forms together depending on your luck.
Fishdom stages have different difficulty, easy, hard and very hard. They are represented by a specific color namely green for easy, red for hard and purple for very hard. But in honestly, stages difficulty does not matter as each time you start a stage, the board will change the patterns position on the board which will make the stage either easy or very hard.
Depending on your luck or bad luck, a simple level could become a very difficult due to those random placements. Secondly the fact that game gives you a limited number of moves in a level, limits you in doing what you want. If you didn’t clear the requirements after your out of move, it’s game over. Unless you buy additional moves with in game currency(gems).
This is where the game draws the lines from being free to play to pay to win. As long as you can pay with gems you can always continue and clear any stage by buying additional moves. To make the matter even worst, bonuses are also buyable with ingame currency(gems). Making the levels look like a joke for cash players.
Last thing i want to mention is the heart mechanics that i find annoying, you lose life each time you fail a stage. You have a limited pool of 5 hearts that regenerates when it’s not full or you have infinite heart mode on. Those heart can also be bought via cash shop, everything seems to be in favour of those who pay.
On the bright side of fishdom, as long as your winning, you can play indefinitely levels after levels. Hearts take around 30 min to refill which is reasonable time to wait or to do something else till you can play again. The bonus are a good addition to help player clearing stage easily. Obtaining them during events or daily surprise chest is a good motivation for f2p.
Ultimately Fishdom has it’s charm as a collection game where you collect all kind of fish and decoration as you play levels and unlocking more fish and decoration at the same time. But those fish and decorations don’t give any advantages beside being an achievement system. Making the collection pointless at a point where you asking why should you buy those useless things.
Unfortunately the answer is No, the game mechanics feel fraudulent. Even if you pay there’s no guarantee that you will be able to complete the level. The lack of free gems puts f2p on a tight spot as to continue and clear a close games require those precious gems. Lastly you won’t have anything to do once you are out of hearts. Fishdom is the kind of games that looks good but have bad mechanics that ruin the fun. Thank you for reading till the end, I will see you in another game review

Yes the game is free to play but have too many mechanics that encourage spending over skills of the player. In game currency is difficult to obtain for F2P. The game seems rig always having 1 or 2 move to complete a stage, pushing you to use your bonuses and gems.
Yes, the overwhelming advantage that you obtain by getting the battle pass is simply unfair to F2P. You can easily clear stages with always selecting bonuses or complete the stage by buying some moves with gems. Overall obvious P2W game.
Events sucks for F2P, as you lose points each time you lose a party. Making it near impossible to reach for the rewards in the chess on each checkpoint. Good luck trying to win as F2P.

A mysterious unworldly event altered your phone and became a portal into the Leap universe, establishing a connection between you and alien waifus.
After a nice 3D intro, you start with some dialog between you and some alien waifus known as Leapers. The start of the tutorial which guide you through all the basics of the game, you may notice that the game has 2 different phase.
The first phase consist of the exploration part where you move the leapers to engage in dialogues or start a fight like in Pokemon. Only thing different here, is that you won’t encounter any monster randomly. As for the second phase, you’ve guess it already, it’s combat itself. Combat itself will have it’s Pre fight where you will need to place a certain amount of Leaper on a 8×6 board.
You may have a certain limit of how much Leaper, you can deploy on the board and sometime some other restrictions depending on the stage. Also you can only place them on one side of the board(left side normally). Once fully prepared and having the right positioning for example tank in front and mage in the back. You can start the fight where the leapers will start moving and fight automatically.
Note at the bottom of your screen, you will notice the avatar of your leaper that will glow after the energy bar is full. During that phase, you can use the ultimate of the Leaper or choose to put auto mode on or off for each leaper on the field. Another important thing is synergy and bonuses between units for example using 3 units of the same faction will give you a bonus or using 3 units of the same type also grants you a bonus in stats.
Another important factor of the game is the idle part of the game, you can start obtaining your resources once you finish first chapter. This is one of the only game that have a 24 hour collect limit which i appreciate a lot. This means your not a slave to the game where you need to connect every 8 or 12 hours daily. The deeper you mine, the better the rewards gets. You can survey the information to collect your reward, hasten a quick survey for 2 hours of idle collect.
Space Leaper Cocoon has a very unique system, leveling is basically the same as other idle game where you pump resources into a unit until you reach a level cap. Once the level cap is reached, you will need to limit break your unit to reach the next level cap. This game only have 5 star max and a max level of level 150 but this is only the first step of upgrading a unit. After you manage to 5 star your unit with fragment that you manage to collect, you can start working on upgrading the Phase which will have 3 level. Phase will need different resources and fragment to upgrade, so i consider it a late game upgrade.
Let’s not forget about Micro Chain where you get bonuses for upgrading other units that are link to this Leaper. It’s a bit like a friend system where you unlock more things for your main units while upgrading the other Leapers and completing your collection. Lastly is the affection system which you will need to work on it, you will need to offer lot’s of gift and take that unit to the Journey Center a lot to create a solid bond.
Skill is very straight forward, you will just need to upgrade the grade of your Leaper to obtain higher level skill. Only skill that you will need to upgrade separately is the Character Gear which acts like a unique weapon. Luckily no need to farm or pull for it in a Gacha, but you will need to farm Iridescent Array for resources to upgrade it. It will change grade with level and will unlock new effect for the units but you may need to level up your unit to a certain grade for that.
Thankfully Leaper needs only 3 gear for 3 different type of class namely Tank, Mage and Fighter. Your gear can be level up but the level cap will depends on the quality of the gear namely common, qualified, standard, advanced, refined and legendary. Legendary will have secondary stats lines compared to the common gear and also the level cap will be different. Your primary gear attributes will always stay the same but your secondary gear attributes will be randomly unlock at each level cap.
As usual to avoid a never ending article and in order to avoid you too many spoiler for you. So that you can play the game with some knowledge, here’s a list of other modes and important things that you will see in the game. This is only a brief description of modes but the combat will remain the same, only the stage and rules that may change.
Space Leaper Cocoon has taken the retro pixel art path in terms of graphics. From live 2D models to classic rpg miniature characters as the first final fantasy game. The character of the game are rather unique as they are a mixture of animal, robot and waifu. Resulting into a mix which you have never seen in any other game. The battle goes on in a grid base battle field and the animation of ultimate has nothing special.
Controls is not Space leapers cocoon fort, the game give you control only before battle. The rest of the control are left to the AI during the whole battle. Only thing you could do, is to tap the ultimate skill button if you didn’t activate the auto play.
If you happened to like retro music, you will absolutely love the music theme of Space Leaper Cocoon. A very nice retro background music for a modern game is very rare, music does go on loop but you’ll never get tired listening to it. Each Leaper have it’s own voice actor with multiple lines which are unique, for example some may have a voice like talking underwater or using auto tune. Sound effect are also very well done, overall i give full mark on the work on the team who worked on the music and sound effects.
The daily routine of this game takes around 15 min to complete. Whereas the game play itself make take some hours specially if your pushing your progress in the campaign. The game has different mode to keep you busy so you can easily choose the number of time your going to spend as there’s no pressure to keep up with other player.
I would say the game is very F2P friendly as how easily you can obtain resources to summon. You don’t need natural 3 star units to finish the game as the revolves more on team composition. You can easily buy fragments of units in the shop which refresh weekly. Making the process to max a unit easier as you won’t really need to summon to progress further. All content are available to play and no paywall.
I would not really call it P2W as the only advantage you will get is additional resources including summons. But remember that obtaining units are random so even with a thousand summons won’t guarantee you to max a unit right away. Beside PVP i can’t find any P2W elements you can get.

The shop offer the basic service as all gacha games that is daily, weekly, monthly, promotional, summon, currency, subscription and gems packages. Price will vary between $0.99 to $99.99 but be careful when buying multiple package as it may cost you more than that.
Considering Space Leaper Cocoon is an idle game, we could imagine that the game would have a very long life span. Specially if they are going to introduce new heroes and events to keep the old player busy collecting Leaper. But I’m worried about this game future, although the game is an excellent idle game with all kind of unique modes and characters. The main problem is there’s no endgame content after completing the campaign. This is a gaping hole that will make the game lose a lot of it’s player base overtime including me. So i would not be surprise the game would close there server in 1 year as they may have a low player base.
As all idle game, time and resource management is key of getting a good progression. This will avoid you being stuck on a stage for days. This game is very beginner friendly in terms of management of resources, free reset on units until a certain level, easy upgrade system and easy gear system. Learn different strategy with different type of units and various team composition plus the units positioning.
New events and new leapers are coming out nearly every month.
Yes, Space Leaper Cocoon is a good idle game with balanced amount of contents to keep busy enough and also a game that doesn’t consume too much of your precious time. The game is very unique idle game that we could easily compare to the other copy paste idle game with a different skin. Once you complete the campaign there’s not much to do beside raising your leapers to max and grinding everyday stage in a repeated way. This is where i see a big flaw in this game, no real endgame content beside collecting leaper and raising them to unlock different illustration. But overall it’s an excellent idle game that i would highly recommend you to play and i hope they would add new features for endgame. Arena of Valor is a MOBA game on Mobile platform, where you can fight other player in Classic 5v5 match in realtime PVP. The game is a bit less popular that the other mobile game as it focus on the core 5v5 Classic game mode but that doesn’t mean the game has a low player base. Let’s check in depth, what the MOBA game have in it’s guts.
To fight the greatest battle, you need the greatest warrior. But heroes much be forged in ultimate combat, competing for the ultimate price. No story but i’ve seen some short comic of part of the story about some of the heroes in the Athanor.
The game immediately jump into the tutorial mode in 1 vs 1 mode. The tutorial will show you the basic control, how to buy item from the shop, auto attacking and using skills. Each time you level up you will obtain 1 ability point that you can spend on a skill. Other than that, you also learn about towers and how attack them safely, learn about the restore skill where you recover some health and mana but will stop if you get attack by an enemy hero.
After destroying the enemy core, you have successfully completed the basic tutorial. Now you will proceed with the next part of the tutorial in a 5 vs 5 match with some AI. You will notice that the map is a bit different from your previous one, you can see more towers and lanes just pop up. Don’t get intimidated by it as the rules stay the same, destroy the enemy core to win. This may take more time depending how well you will be doing.
The match won’t be that hard and should give you a good idea about how to play the game correctly. Like avoid being greedy for kills under an enemy tower or when your outnumbered in a team fight that you better retreat to avoid getting killed, etc. Your next match will let you choose your hero in the hero selection. Here you will be able to select your hero, skin and Enchantment, Arcana, Talent and equipment builds. The tutorial will make you repeat match after match until you complete the career path where you will obtain new heroes and skins for free.
As usual here’s a list of things that you will see in your lobby that i won’t go in much detail as they are straightforward and self explanatory.
Arena of Valor is in 3D completely, from characters to the game itself. You can switch between illustration and 3D when choosing your character. You can also adjust the graphic settings to adapt to your phone capacity and still enjoy the game on low graphic. Beside that you have multiple skins with special animations and special anime characters like Kirito, Asuna and some Demon Slayer characters.
Controls are rather intuitive, movement pad is on the left and skill button are on the right. You further adjust the control setting for selecting targets, auto attacking or manual aiming of skills. Your setting will depend on which hero you will be playing and also your style of playing. For example using Diao Chan skill require good aiming to make an effective use of Aoe Freeze where as in auto you would probably hit only 1 target.
In terms of music, Arena of Valor have different decent background music for different phase and screen in the game. The sound effects are good, skins does have special voice lines and sound effects when using a skill or getting a kill or assist. Multiple announcer and Voice line are available for message that you can use while playing a match.
Daily quests are optional but is important if want to obtain currency quickly. A match last between 10 to 20 min depending on your team and opponent team. The game is design to make either player end the game or the minions will do the job while you are dead. If take in consideration that a match making takes around 1 min and selecting your hero takes 30 seconds. Then the loading screen takes another minute, we can say your average time per match is around 12 min.
Arena of Valor is F2P, you will have full access of the game’s contents without spending any money. The game gives you free heroes, free skins and free Tier 2 Arcana to help you enjoy the game. All you have to do is play the game as F2P and slowly build enough currency to buy new heroes and upgrade your Arcana to Tier 3. Remember that currency earning is cap to a weekly limit, so no use playing day and night to try obtaining as much currency as possible.
I would not call it P2W, Arena of Valor is more pay to progress faster and earn better rewards. The game is not P2W at all, F2P will eventually catch up in terms of Arcana upgrade later on. So the only benefit of Cash player is purely cosmetics, that is skins, emotes and sound effects. Obtaining more currency and cosmetics does not make this game P2W at all even that the game does have battle pass and lucky wheels.

Nothing new or special in the classic cash shop of mobile games. Multiple packages with different price including currency, heroes, upgrade currency, battle pass and skins. Price vary between $0.99 to $99. Note that the game have multiple currency and does have a gacha system (lucky draw) where rewards are random, so be careful from those chance base cash items.
I think Arena of Valor is a solid game with a large variety of heroes to play. Good graphic, good music, good heroes roaster, skins, low queue time, quick match and good control. Although the game is not as good as League of Legends or Mobile Legends in terms of events and cosmetics. The game has enough player base around the world to make it an alternate option for a MOBA game. The game will be here for a very long time as MOBA tend to keep it’s player base for a long time.
Develop quick thinking and strategies to fight or help. Collecting information and learning the abilities of each champion makes you better and better after every match. Learn to win and lose in a positive manner, respect your opponent and your teammate and try not to be toxic. Have fun as every single match will be different.
Weekly updates with bug fixes and some events where you get some trial heroes. New skin and new heroes are added almost every month. Apparently some new game mode will be available soon so keep an eye for this update.
It’s a big Yes, the game is much easier than League of legends Wild Rift or Mobile Legends Bang Bang. Arena of Valor is very beginner friendly at least at the start. But does gradually gets harder as you climb the rank as in all MOBA games. The limited amount of currency which is time gated unless your going to pay, makes you focus only 1 class and 1 hero at the start. As you upgrade your Arcana and get enough currency to switch to a new hero. You will have already mastered your starting character to play it effectively and not be called a noob.
I think it’s a very good system to make the player learn the game. Upgrading the Arcana is a bit too slow if your aiming to climb and compete in the ranks. You barely have the time to type to chat during a match which is very good thing. Of course you will meet noobs, trolls and pros in your matches, don’t expect to win every single match as random thing may happened during a match. Match making can something mess you up, your opponent may have a counter team for your hero, this is where you try to use some of your brain cell to win.
Overall, i had a blast match after match, winning or losing didn’t really matter so much. So if your looking for a good MOBA beside those big name and want something different where you can play anime charcters like Kirito, Asuna from Sword Art Online or DC heroes like Batman and Superman. Well this game is for you. Only thing i didn’t like, was there’s no promotion on heroes for F2P beside that the game is good. Thank you for reading till the end, i will see you next time.
